Moving to Total Triage
As you are no doubt aware, there have been many media campaigns highlighting the pressure the NHS is under due to a shortage of GPs, nurses and the longer waiting times for GP and hospital appointments.
We appreciate that some patients may feel let down by their practice if they are unable to secure an urgent appointment the same day or have to wait for a few weeks for routine GP appointments. We don’t like it either and it is not the service we want to provide to our patients.
This year we have successfully managed to recruit additional GPs to the team and we are getting ready to roll-out a new appointment system. From 6th January 2025, all appointment requests will be triaged by a clinician and appointments will be allocated based on clinical priority. It will ensure patients are seen by the most appropriate clinician or service provider and should bring an end to the 8 am rush for appointments.
